Dr. Jill Gallagher is a proud Gunditjmara woman, respected leader, and powerhouse.

As CEO of VACCHO she drives high-quality health services, grounded in a vision for a self-determining community.

Her career and advocacy span decades.

Earlier this year, Aunty Jill delivered a personal submission at the Yoorrook Justice Commission’s Land Hearings.

She advocated for the importance of truth-telling.

And the need for Victoria to listen and learn from the injustices faced by First Nations communities.

Alongside her strong community leadership, Aunty Jill has been the CEO of VACCHO since 2001.

She shared with me the critical work they do, grounded in the protective effect of practicing and celebrating culture on health and well-being.

VACCHO strive for Culture, Community, and Country to be embedded in healthcare for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People.

And I am so grateful to have seen the contribution Aunty Jill and her team at VACCHO make to our community.

Thank you for having me.
