That’s a wrap on Parliament 2024!
A whopping 142 bills have passed through the Senate.
The Albanese Government came to Parliament this year with a strong agenda to make things better for Australians and lead the change only Labor Governments can.
We believe in good, secure jobs Australians can count on with fair and safe conditions, so we passed Bills that:
- Closed loopholes which were undercutting pay and conditions.
- Gave a fairer go to casual workers with a pathway to permanency.
We want greater economic security for Australian women, so we legislated:
- An expansion to Paid Parental Leave with superannuation on top.
- A historic 15% pay rise for early childhood educators.
We know Australia’s renewable potential means we can make a future right here, so we made laws that:
- Introduced our nation-shaping Future Made in Australia framework, the blueprint for how we will maximise the renewable opportunities on our horizon.
- Established the Net Zero Economy to support workers in the energy transformation, especially in the regions.
All while passing other key legislation to build more homes, rebuild our TAFE sector, wipe student debt – and the list goes on!
Supporting workers, boosting economic security for women, and kicking off Australia’s renewable transformation are accomplishments from our Government that I’m particularly proud of.
And I know my colleagues in the House and the Senate have worked hard to bring about change they’re proud of too.
The work is far from over – but this Labor Government is committed to building a better Australia.
Bring on 2025!
