Building a quality, universal system of early childhood education and care is an incredible opportunity for our children – because 90% of a child’s brain development occurs in those first five years of life.

It’s an opportunity for families and for the nation.

Quality early childhood education helps families balance the squeeze between work and care – and every dollar invested in early childhood education delivers returns down the track.

Building a shared recognition of the value of early childhood education is an important part of this work, and I’d like to thank Rebecca Thistleton from The McKell Institute, Georgie Dent from The Parenthood, and everyone who attended and engaged in this important conversation.
