Winning for women – what Labor Governments do best.
It was a privilege to join Ged Kearney and Kate Thwaites for the Women in the House panel, hosted by Per Capita and the Chifley Research Centre as part of their Winning for Women event.
We reflected on the incredible achievements of the gender-equal Albanese Labor Government over the past three years, including:
– Wage rises for workers in aged care and early education – recognising the critical work in these highly feminised sectors
– A historic investment in women’s health and tackling medical misogyny.
– An expansion of Paid Parental Leave – with super on top – helping working women and families.
Just to name a few.
Minister for Finance and Minister for Women Katy Gallagher, opened the afternoon with a powerful address on what we’ve delivered – and outlined the next steps we’re taking to strengthen women’s safety across the country.
Thank you to everyone who joined us in the room and online, and to Per Capita Australia and Chifley Research Centre for bringing us together.
Labor has made real strides for women – but we’re not done yet.
