Meeting with SNAICC

From January, more children will have access to the benefits of early learning, including more First Nations children.
That’s thanks to the Albanese Government’s 3-Day Guarantee, and advocates like Catherine Liddle, CEO of SNAICC – National Voice for our Children. To help to Close the Gap, for First Nations children the guarantee is extended to 100 hours per fortnight.
Catherine, alongside so many dedicated advocates, long argued for the ‘Activity Test’ – requiring parents to work or study to access subsidised child care – to be replaced.
The Albanese Government listened, and has legislated to replace the test with our 3-Day Guarantee, extending subsidised early learning to every child, no matter what their parents do.
It’s a big step on the path to universal early education, a path where the opportunity to grow, learn and be ready for school is available to every child.
Thank you Catherine, Gretchen and Tovani for telling me about SNAICC’s work supporting children and families – and why listening to Community is key to delivering culturally safe, inclusive early education.
