Visit to Gowrie Broadmeadows, Victoria

Gowrie Victoria have been running high-quality, not-for-profit early childhood education and care services for more than 80 years.
Gowrie grew out of what was then a radical idea by a group of Melbourne women – that every child, no matter their background or where they live, deserves high-quality, accessible early education.
As Lady Zara Gowrie said, “we must build up a better world, and it is only through the children that this can be done”.
Today, the Member for Calwell Basem Abdo and I visited Gowrie Australia’s Broadmeadows Valley centre.
This centre has an “excellent” rating – and it’s easy to see why.
🌞 They’re connected to the broader community in the Broadmeadows Valley Learning Precinct, so they’re able to support children throughout their whole learning journey
🌞 They let children make their own decisions about whether they play indoors or outdoors, when they eat and when they rest – and they make sure that they have enough educators for that to happen
🌞 They support their educators and have a sustained commitment to professional development.
This is what excellence in early childhood education and care looks like.
Thanks for having us, Gowrie.
