This is Georgiana, a nurse in her grad year at The Royal Melbourne Hospital.

Georgiana is exactly who the Albanese Labor Government will support with paid prac for nursing students, as well as teachers, midwives, and social workers.

She put it best herself, “Something like paid prac is amazing. It makes you have placement as your main focus.”

Starting July 1, the Government’s paid prac for students will:

  • Support 68,000 eligible higher education students and over 5,000 VET students each year
  • Make study more accessible for students in critical fields, like healthcare
  • Help address workforce shortages in areas like nursing, teaching, and social work.

Workers like Georgiana are vital to the future of our healthcare system and our country.

That’s why our Government is backing the hard work and aspirations of Australians like Georgiana, who are already making a difference in their fields.
