International Youth Day

On International Youth Day, I’d like to send a big congratulations to all the young leaders who’ve stepped up and become engaged to create the kind of future they want.
Leaders like Bella and Taihan, who have been members of our Government’s Youth Steering Committee for the past few years.
These roles have helped them turn their passions into policy influence – from advising the government’s Climate Change Authority to meeting with the Head Scientist of Australia.
Bella and Taihan have a really clear message: young people need to be heard.
The Albanese Labor Government is listening to young people and acting.
– We’ve delivered cuts to student debt, made student loan indexing fairer, and protected penalty rates in law.
– We’re making it easier for young people to buy their first home with smaller deposits, and we’re building homes just for first homebuyers.
– And we’ve reopened government up to young people by bringing back the Office for Youth and supporting programs such as the Youth Steering Committee and Youth Advisory Groups.
I look forward to meeting with future members of this fantastic Committee.
