We’re tackling housing from every possible angle.
Housing Minister Clare O’Neil updated a lively CEDA crowd on Federal Labor’s BIG agenda to build more homes.
Key takeouts:
– Over decades, Australia has simply not built enough homes to meet demand for homes to buy and rent, sending prices up and locking too many out.
– In social and affordable housing, our $10 billion Housing Australia Future Fund is delivering 13,700 homes in Round One, at the same time making twice its benchmark rate of return, supporting more investments long into the future.
– In the private market, Commonwealth leadership via incentives is critical – like our incentives for states to reform barriers to building, incentives for capital to enter the Build to Rent market, and incentives for workers to enter construction trades.
To make it happen, we are leading the biggest home building program of ANY government in history.
Huge thanks to Minister Clare O’Neil for leading the charge, putting the Commonwealth right back in the business of homes for all Australians.
