Child safety legislation passed

Safe, quality early education is a game changer for children.

That’s why we’ve just passed strong legislation to keep children safe in our first sitting of Parliament.

Our legislation will make meeting quality and safety standards a top priority for access the Child Care Subsidy.

It will also give the Government the power to set certain conditions on safety for providers to maintain their funding.

We’re working shoulder to shoulder with the States and Territories on a significant package of child safety reforms.

We know that our dedicated, passionate early educators are fundamental to that vision.

It’s why we’ve supported a 15 per cent pay rise that’s stabilising our essential workforce.

And we’ll continue to work with our counterparts, providers and educators to build a safe and quality universal early childhood education system.
