The foundation of safe, quality early education and care is a dedicated, quality workforce.

That’s why the Albanese Government is listening to our nation’s committed early educators.

And why I was so pleased to attend a meeting of educators with the United Workers Union and Australian Children’s Education and Care Quality Authority (ACECQA) in Melbourne today.

When I meet with early educators, they tell me maintaining active supervision and staff ratios at all times is the key to keeping children safe.

That’s why as part of our $189M National Child Safety Package, Education Ministers asked ACECQA to undertake a rapid review of safe supervision and staffing in early learning.

The review will consider improvements to:

✏️ Active supervision that promotes line of sight to educators and children

✏️ Safe staffing levels and the current operation of ‘under the roofline’ ratios

It’s important that ACECQA hears directly from educators who are the experts on what happens every day in early learning.

Their voices are vital to delivering safe, quality early education today and into the future.
