Next week, we return for the 48th Parliament.
We’ll introduce strong, immediate legislation to cut Commonwealth funding from early education providers who put profit over child safety.
Our message to those providers is clear: lift your game or leave the sector.
While the vast majority of early education providers meet and exceed our National Quality Standards, one bad provider is one too many.
And we’re working shoulder to shoulder with States and Territories on a significant child safety reform package.
Starting with the first ever nationwide register of early childhood educators.
And mandatory nationwide child safety training.
Training is a critical pillar of child safe culture in our centres.
A child safe culture that has to start with providers putting children first, every single day.
Because every child deserves safe, quality early education and care – and that’s what we’re determined to deliver.
